Common scams
Someone calls claiming to be from the fraud team and asks you to move money to a "safe account". No bank will ever ask you to do this. Hang up and call the number on your card.
A message with an urgent deadline and a link to "verify" your account. Check the sender address, never tap the link, and reach online banking by typing the address yourself.
An invoice arrives with changed bank details. Always confirm new payee details by phone using a number you already held — never one supplied in the email.
Pressure to move quickly, guaranteed returns, or a request to keep the arrangement private. Genuine investments never require secrecy.
You are told you have been overpaid and asked to return the difference. The original payment is usually reversed later, leaving you short.
